Landscaping
Hardscape lives or dies on what’s underneath it. A retaining wall has to hold a slope and manage the water behind it, or it bows and fails; a patio has to sit on a compacted, drained base, or it heaves and settles. Because I run the excavator, I dig and prep the footing and base myself before a single block or paver goes down — so the finished work holds up. Walls, patios, walkways, fire pits: the good-looking part sits on a foundation you’ll never see, and that’s the part I get right.
A wall that ignores the water behind it will fail on our clay. I build drainage into the wall from the start so it holds for the long run.

How I approach it

Plan the layout
We set the lines, heights, and how it drains before anything is dug.

Excavate the base
Dig the footing or patio base with the machine and compact it solid.

Build it right
Base rock, drainage behind walls, then the block or pavers set level and tight.

Finish & clean
Cap it, backfill, sweep the joints, and clean up the site.

How tall a wall can you build?
I build the range of residential walls most yards need. If a job is tall enough to need an engineer, I’ll tell you straight — I’d rather do it right than build something that fails.
Block or natural stone?
Both — segmental block, natural stone, or pavers. I’ll help you pick what fits the look and the budget.
Do you prep the base yourself?
Yes — that’s the advantage of doing my own excavating. The base is dug, drained, and compacted right before the wall or patio goes on it.
